Public event.

On Monday, 23 June 2025, at 5:30 p.m., the City of Locarno, in collaboration with the City of Muralto, invites the public and the press to a symbolic event marking the official opening of the summer season under the banner of peace and diplomacy.

To commemorate the centenary of the Locarno Treaties, three new urban installations will be unveiled, highlighting the values of dialogue, trust, and coexistence that characterised the historic 1925 conference:

Vento della Pace (Wind of Peace) – Outdoor Photo Exhibition
Along the lakeside promenade between Locarno and Muralto, visitors can explore an installation featuring twenty-one monumental flags inspired by the rationalist graphic style of the 1920s. Each flag displays a historic photograph accompanied by a poignant quote on the theme of peace. This installation creates an immersive experience that symbolically connects past and present.

Il Percorso della Pace (The Peace Path) – Historical and Multimedia Itinerary
A new eleven-stage path through Locarno, Muralto, Minusio, Orselina, and Ascona invites the public to explore the symbolic sites of the 1925 Conference. Each stage is accompanied by informative panels and digital content accessible via QR codes. This pathencourages contemporary reflection on the significance of diplomacy, attentive listening, and international cooperation.

Piazza Remo Rossi – A Symbolic Threshold
The inaugural walk will conclude at Piazza Remo Rossi , the cultural heart of the city, with the unveiling of an artistic and graphic installation designed as a conceptual gateway to the Percorso della Pace. This will be followed by a social gathering with refreshments served.

This initiative represents a key milestone in the centenary celebrations of the Locarno Treaties and reaffirms the city’s dedication to fostering a culture of peace.
