Historical itinerary tracing the Locarno Treaties

The Rivapiana Neighborhood Association offers a walking tour to discover important places and events connected to the days of the Peace Conference. Curated by Francesco Mismirigo, the tour does not aim to be exhaustive but seeks to provide an evocative glimpse into some of the most emblematic moments and locations.

The meeting point is at 8:30 am at the Portigon in Minusio. From there, the tour proceeds to the Debarcadero in Locarno, where participants can enjoy breakfast on the historic veranda of the restaurant of the same name. Afterwards, the Verbano 26 Association will present the role of navigation during the conference days.

The itinerary will then continue to the Praetorian Palace, where architect Michele Bardelli of Studio Bardelli Associati - responsible for the building’s restoration - will give a presentation. The tour will proceed to the Palazzo della Sopracenerina and the FFS Train Station, accompanied by historical reflections on the Grand Hôtel and the Madonna del Sasso.

The tour will conclude at Villa Farinelli in Muralto, featuring a reenactment of memories related to the Varini-Rima family, the building’s owners, followed by a final moment of sharing.
